They're Just Baby Teeth!
Many parents ask, “Why are the primary (baby) teeth so important?” or “Aren’t they going to fall out anyway?” Here are a few reasons why healthy baby teeth are so important.

Primary Teeth:
  1. Cavities that are left unattended can become painful and lead to infection, which can possibly cause damage to the developing permanent teeth.
  2. Primary teeth act as natural space maintainers for the eruption of permanent teeth as well as guide the permanent teeth into the correct position.
  3. Aid in proper chewing, speech development, appearance and acceptance.

Note: The final baby tooth does not exfoliate or "fall out" until age 11 or 12.
